Deepa Sahi Biography
Deepa Sahi was born in India in Dehradun. She is an Indian actress and producer. In Deepa's early film career she collaborated with noted auteur Govind Nihalani and made her debut with the 1984 film Party.

Making her debut with Govind Nihalani’s Party (1984), Deepa Sahi went on to act in Aghaat (1985) and in the television film Tamas(1986). Tamas was based on a novel by Bhisham Sahni, set during the Partition of India.
She played Rajnikanth’s wife in Hum (1991). Ketan Mehta’s Maya Memsaab (1992) saw her with Shah Rukh Khan and was based on the novel Madame Bovary, about a woman whose discontent with her life pushes her into a world of fantasy and debts.

Sahi wrote Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India (1995). The movie was directed by Ketan Mehta and also starred Javed Jaffrey and Shah Rukh Khan. She played a Miss India in the movie. In 1997, she played a rich woman's secretary in Ketan Mehta's Aar Ya Paar (1997).
In 2001, she was seen onscreen as Champia in Tapan Sinha's Daughters of this Century along with Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan and Nandita Das.
Since 1993, she has produced many movies like Rules Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula and Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005) which saw an average performance at the box office. She also held the post of a CEO for Maya Entertainment in 2000.
She is the co-producer of Rang Rasiya (2009) which is written and directed by her husband Ketan Mehta.

Early career
An alumnus of National School of Drama, Delhi, Sahi started off with a theater career, with strong Leftist leanings and Social Activism a core value of the productions she was involved with.

After marrying film director Ketan Mehta - who also was a rising light of Alternate Hindi Cinema - she acted in several of his films including Hero Hiralal (1988), Maya Memsaab (1992) and Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India (1995).
Her other notable films include Hum (1991) and Ek Doctor Ki Maut (1991).
Her last film appearance was in Aar Ya Paar (1998) and she has not appeared in any films since.
In 2005 she co-produced her husband's film Mangal Pandey: The Rising - which was a moderate success at the box office.
She also wrote the screenplay for Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India which was written and directed by her husband. She got filmfare best supporting actress nominee for Hum and National Award(Jury) for Maya Memsaab

Besides this, she has produced 12 TV series and is promoter of Maya Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. India's leading animation studio. She was CEO of Maya Entertainment from 2000 to 2002 and was responsible for the long term strategy of the company and also made many entries into other animation avenues such as MAAC etc. After her stint as the CEO of Maya Entertainment, she returned to her first love - cinema. She is currently producing 4 movies, two to be directed by Ketan Mehta, and the other two to be directed by the famous Sudhir Mishra. She is also about to direct a movie herself starring Hema Malini and Nana Patekar, amongst others.
Personal life
She is married to film director Ketan Mehta who is nephew of freedom fighter Dr. Usha Mehta.
